As of October 2017, plastic caps from water bottles or soda bottles can now be left on the bottle to be recycled. You must first empty your container and then twist the cap back on. This includes caps from bottles of soda, juice, milk, water, etc.

It is important that the containers are empty of any liquid or else the item may be diverted to garbage during the sorting process.
