Invasive Plant Species

To avoid spreading invasive plant species, avoid burning or composting.

The following explains the Statute and Code citations by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources allowing for the disposal of invasive plants. Please read carefully.

s. 287.07(7)(cm), Stats., The prohibition in sub. (2) does not apply to the disposal of plans that are classified by the department as invasive species under s. 23.22 (2) or their seeds, if the plants or seeds are not commingled with other yard waste. These species are listed in NR40, Wis. Adm. Code. http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/code/admin_code/nr/001/40.pdf.
