The Brown County Hazardous Material Recovery Facility accepts materials that pose a threat to human health and the environment. These materials are flammable, poisonous, corrosive, or reactive. For more information call (920) 492-4950.​

Drivers must remain in vehicles.

Hazardous materials must be in the back end of vehicles (trunk, liftgate, or truck bed).

The material will not be removed from front or back seats

Acceptable Hazardous Waste:

Corrosive - acids, bases, cleaning products

Flammable - paint, gasoline, paint thinners, solvents, motor oils, car chemicals

Poisonous/Toxic - pesticides, cleaning products, insecticides

Reactive - pool chemicals, aerosol cans, fire extinguishers
Other Acceptable Material:

Electronics - cell phones, chargers, computers, printers, televisions

Small Appliances - microwaves, dorm or miniature refrigerators, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, power tools, etc. (fees apply)

Others - fluorescent light bulbs, ballasts, cooking oil, propane tanks, oil, antifreeze, batteries (fees apply)
Unacceptable:

Smoke Detectors (return to manufacturer)

The Hazardous Material Recovery Facility charges fees for certain non- or low-hazardous material. These fees may change annually.

Universal waste such as electronics, latex paint, light bulbs, antifreeze, cooking oil, fire extinguishers, adhesive, windshield wiper fluid, small corded appliances are accepted for a fee.

Disposal of fire extinguishers is $5 per extinguisher for Brown County Residents regardless of weight or size.

​Hazardous Material Recovery staff is not able to "pour off" liquid hazardous waste and return the containers during collections. If you are bringing gasoline or other fluids to the Hazardous Material Recovery facility this material must be brought in a container that can be left at the facility.

Large Loads - If you have a large quantity of material (a truck bed full, or trailer full) please call to make an appointment. We reserve the right to reject any loads deemed too large to handle during residential hours, or you may be required to wait until a slower period. If you are in doubt, you should call and discuss it with Hazardous Material Recovery personnel.
