Oil Based Paint

Oil based paints are flammable and should be brought to the Hazardous Material Recovery facility, whether the can is empty or full.  This material is taken free of charge from Brown County residents.  If you are an out of county resident please call (920) 492-4950 for pricing.

Latex Based Paint

Latex (water-based) paint can be brought to the Hazardous Material Recovery facility for a fee.  Please see our Rates, Fees, and Payment Information page for more details.  If you are an out of county resident please call (920) 492-4950 for pricing.

Once the latex paint has hardened or solidified, it can be disposed of with your regular trash. However, when you set them at your curb make sure the lids are removed from the paint cans.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, leftover paint is the largest volume material collected by hazardous materials collection sites and costs local governments a lot of money to deal with. The EPA estimates that 10 percent of the house paint purchased each year ends up discarded.
